Dr. Stone is new Shonen anime that has recently debuted its first episode (based on a Japanese manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 6, 2017).
The story follows Senku Ishigami (The main protagonist of the series who is highly intelligent and excels in multiple fields of science.) and Taiju Ōki (Senku's best friend) on their journey of reviving humanity and civilization after humanity fell into a bizarre state of petrification.
I have already read a few chapters of the manga and I quite enjoy the premise of the story because of how unique it is. as for the characters, I'm fascinated with the main character Senku because he is quite different from the regular shonen MC. However, the usual shonen troupes are present, especially in Taiju's character who I find quite annoying but his character does not ruin the show for me because I feel it is necessary for this story to have such an eccentric character.
I'm still wary about this show because I believe it can go both ways. Either become one of the greatest shonen shows or end up following the shonen formula and lose any type of innovation that the premise of the show highly encourage.
If you never heard of the show and is interested in it here is a link of the show teaser below:
